HOSPITALS

Healthgrades Hospital Recognition

In 2024, WellSpan Chambersburg, WellSpan York, and WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospitals were named as Among America’s Best Hospitals in the country by Healthgrades, an online resource for information about physicians and hospitals. Additionally, WellSpan Gettysburg and WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospitals earned three state rankings for specialty care in 2024.

U.S. News & World Report High Performing Recognition

Several WellSpan hospitals have been honored by U.S. News & World Report with the High Performing recognition for 2023-24: WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital, WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital, and WellSpan York Hospital.

The honor of High Performing is the highest award a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings. Their annual Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.

The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Grades

Four WellSpan Health hospitals have received “A” safety grades for fall 2023 from The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers widely acknowledged as the toughest standard-setter for health care safety and quality. WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, and WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital all received the “A” safety grades.

QUALITY & SAFETY

CMS Star Ratings

All WellSpan hospitals recently earned top scores from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in its overall hospital quality star ratings. In 2022, WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital, WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, and WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital all received five stars, the top rating provided by CMS. That’s a score earned by less than 14% of the 3,093 hospitals to receive a star rating from CMS. WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital and WellSpan York Hospital both achieved a four-star rating.

AHA Quest for Quality Prize

WellSpan Health was named as the winner of the prestigious American Hospital Association (AHA) Quest for Quality Prize for hospital leadership and innovation in quality performance improvement. It’s the highest honors WellSpan has achieved to date on its journey toward high reliability and a commitment to quality care for its patients. The health system topped finalists from across the country for this annual prize that has been awarded since 2002.
